Claudio Gonzalés from Trudillé, Dominican Republic was awarded the Gladding Memorial Award in 2007, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to sustainable management of fisheries and marine resources in the Gulf and Caribbean Region.

Claudio Agustín Gonzålez is a primary leader of the fishing community in Trudillé, Jaragua National Park, Dominican Republic and has long assisted field studies and conservation projects in the National Park, especially on sea turtles. In addition to fishing and conservation, he is known as an expert boat-builder and has also served as administrator of the fishing cooperative.
