What first drew you to science, fisheries, or the ocean?

I was literally born in the water, my mom gave me birth in a bath. I always has this crush for water, I did water sport (synchronized swimming ), then marine mammals trainer and dive instructor.

What part of your work makes you feel proud or hopeful?

Being part of rehabilitation and release into the wildlife to rescued manatees

What support, opportunities, or conditions have helped you succeed ?

My parents who always supported my decisions (studies and jobs)

Idelisa Bonnelly, mother of Marine Biology in the Dominican Republic

What message would you share with girls considering a career in science or fisheries, especially those who may doubt they belong?

To always follow their instinct, and trust in their choices
