In 2001, the Gulf and Caribbean Fisheries Institute hosted the largest Marine Protected Areas symposium ever held in the region.  There was 1 1/2 days of invited technical presentations, one day of workshops, and an MPA evening poster session.  Sessions focused on case-studies, socio-economics and capacity, and connectivity.
