This session will provide an overview of historic trends in fisheries research, management, technology, and conservation in Gulf and Caribbean fisheries during the past 58 years. The 60th annual Gulf and Caribbean Fisheries Institute conference will be held from 5 Nov 2007 through 9 November 2007 at the Ocean Blue Hotel (do not use this website for reservations) in Bovara near Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. GCFI has negotiated special rates at this all-inclusive resort hotel. The rates are 125 $US single occupancy, $85 per person double occupancy, $80 per person triple occupancy, and $75 per person quadruple occupancy. Taxes and a $3 per night booking fee are additional. Other room ates are available for children. Please check back for more information.


There are a number of special sessions, symposia and workshops associated with the 60th GCFI.


Make sure that you book your flight to Punta Cana and NOT to Sto. Domingo; otherwise, you will have a 4 hour drive to the hotel.

GCFI has negotiated rooms at an alternative, all-inclusive hotel (LTI Hotel) 5 mins walk down the beach. Here are the rates:
  1. Single US$130.00
  2. Double US$105.00 per person
  3. Triple US$95.00 per person
